Millions of anime fans will love this new feature on Sony TV

Corporate Synergy! Crunchyroll, the global anime streaming service owned by Sony, is now a click away for owners of Sony 2023 Bravia HDTVs.

With over 10 million paid subscribers, Crunchyroll offers over 18,000 hours of anime content, consisting of over 44,000 episodes and feature films. In addition to a dedicated button to launch the Crunchyroll app on Bravia TVs, the remote on the new models also includes controls for Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Google, and YouTube.

More about Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll is a subscription service (opens in a new tab, of course), but you can visit the official website and sign up for a two-week free trial. To see if this is the kind of service you’ve been missing in your life. You’re definitely missing out if you’re shopping for one of Sony’s best TVs in 2023, and that wired button won’t get you anywhere.

The Crunchyroll button is available on the remote controls of the new 2023 Bravia models sold in the Americas, Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Sony Electronics announced the 2023 Bravia XR TV lineup on Wednesday. It includes five new models: X95L and X93L Mini LED, X90L Full Array LED, A95L QD-OLED, and A80L OLED. According to the company, the new models feature an updated XR cognitive processor. Sony says it improves noise reduction and motion clarity. It reduces blur and creates “action-packed” scenes. According to Sony, the Cognitive Processor XR allows for better backlight control. This is to increase local dimming zones, and brightness, and reduce bloom.

Crunchyroll is an independent joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex of Japan. A subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. Sony bought Crunchyroll from AT&T for $1.18 billion in cash in 2021, and last year merged Crunchyroll with the service. Anime streaming service Funimation (which Sony bought in 2019).

What I think

I think this is a very fun addition and a great way to catch up on your favorite anime shows. Crunchyroll is ad-free, HD, and subtitled and dubbed, so you don’t have to learn Japanese.  Arigato gozaimasu, Sony!
